International Yoga Day

INTRODUCTION Shreekara World Foundation, in association with Patanjali Yogpeeth, successfully celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June 2026 at Gymkhana Club, Jorhat. The programme was organized with the objective of promoting the importance of yoga in maintaining physical health, mental well-being, and a balanced lifestyle. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from members and employees of Shreekara World Foundation, along with participants from various Self-Help Groups. The programme served as a platform to spread awareness about the benefits of yoga and encourage its regular practice among people from different walks of life.INAUGURATION OF THE PROGRAMMEThe programme commenced at 7:00 AM with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony. As part of the inauguration, Ms. Akashi Bhuyan, Additional Director of the Shreekara World Foundation lit a ghee lamp, symbolizing positivity and purity. The practice was also observed for its traditional significance in promoting a clean and uplifting atmosphere before the commencement of the yoga session.HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PROGRAMME• International Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June at Gymkhana Club, Jorhat. • The event was organized by Shreekara World Foundation in association with Patanjali Yogpeeth. • The programme began at 7:00 AM with the lighting of a ghee lamp by Ms. Akashi Bhuyan. • The yoga session was led by Mrs. Bonti Rekha Dutta.• Participants practiced yoga asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques. • Members and employees of Shreekara World Foundation actively participated in the event. • Participants from various Self-Help Groups also joined the programme. • A total of 36 participants attended the celebration. • The session emphasized the role of yoga in maintaining a healthy body, calm mind, and disciplined lifestyle.The yoga session was conducted by Mrs. Bonti Rekha Dutta, an experienced yoga trainer. Under her guidance, participants performed various yoga asanas, pranayama, and meditation exercises. She also explained the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life for maintaining physical health, mental peace, and emotional balance. PARTICIPATION AND IMPACTS The programme witnessed active participation from all attendees, creating an atmosphere of positivity, unity, and wellness. Participants expressed their appreciation for the initiative and gained valuable knowledge about the benefits of regular yoga practice. World Social Work Day

IntroductionShreekara World Foundation celebrated World Social Work Day on 17th March 2026 with active participation from women trainees and trainers. The program was organized to create awareness about social work and encourage everyone to take part in community activities. The event started with a warm welcome, where all trainees and trainers gathered together. The main aim of the celebration was to understand the importance of social work and how small efforts can bring positive change in society. HighlightUnderstanding Social Work Additional Director Ms. Akashi Bhuyan explained the concept of social work in very simple words. She said that social work means helping people, supporting communities, and bringing positive change. She also highlighted that social work can start from our own nearby areas through small actions like helping others, spreading awareness, and working together. She encouraged everyone to begin social work from their immediate surroundings, stating that small actions in nearby areas can create a big impact. She motivated the trainees to actively engage in community service and become responsible citizens contributing to positive change.Planned Social Action InitiativesAs part of the celebration, the organization planned several social action activities: A tree plantation drive in nearby areas to mark Environmental awareness and sustainability. A Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (cleanliness drive) to promote hygiene and cleanliness within the local community. These initiatives were designed to translate the values of social work into practical action.Speech by Project Associate – Archita BaruahProject Associate Ms. Archita Baruah delivered a speech on the history of social work. She explained how social work evolved from voluntary charity-based activities into a structured and professional discipline. She highlighted its development into an academic field focusing on areas such as health, education, child welfare, and community development.She also discussed the role of NGOs in social work, emphasizing how organizations act as a bridge between the government and the community. NGOs play a crucial role in implementing welfare programs, raising awareness, and ensuring inclusive development.To inspire the participants, she cited examples of renowned Indian social workers who have contributed significantly to society, encouraging trainees to follow their path of service and dedication.ConclusionThe trainees actively participated in the discussions and showed interest in engaging in future social activities. The program concluded with a sense of motivation and commitment among all participants to contribute towards building a better and more inclusive society. The celebration of World Social Work Day by Shreekara World Foundation was a meaningful step towards promoting awareness, responsibility, and collective action for social change.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION

IntroductionInternational Women’s Day is observed globally on 8th March every year to recognise the achievements, strength, and contributions of women in society. As 8th March 2026 fell on a Sunday, the celebration was organised on 9th March 2026 at the office of Shreekara World Foundation, Jorhat. The program aimed to honour women and promote the importance and contribution of women in everyday life.ParticipationA total of 20 no of women were attended the program and actively took part in the celebration.Special FelicitationA special felicitation ceremony was organised to honour Ms. Bindaboti Boro Lahon, the Master Trainer of the SAMARTH Skill Development Training, in recognition of her dedication to trainee women in weaving skills. She was honoured with a traditional Assamese gamusa and a small gift as a token of appreciation.Program HighlightsThe program began with an introductory speech by Akashi Bhuyan, where she spoke about the importance of celebrating International Women’s Day and recognising the role of women in society. She also addressed the participants and shared their talents. A felicitation ceremony was organised for Ms. Bindaboti Boro Lahon, the Master Trainer of the SAMARTH Skill Development Training. A felicitation speech was delivered by Archita, appreciating the contribution and efforts of Bindaboti Boro Lahon in empowering women through skill development.She also shared her experiences, motivating the women to learn skills and work towards self-reliance.The Chairperson and Founder Director of Shreekara World Foundation, Ms. Papori Sheetal Palkar, joined the program digitally and observed the event. She delivered an inspiring speech encouraging women to become confident, skilled, and self-reliant and appreciated the initiative taken for celebrating the day.A speech was also delivered by Debajani, highlighting the importance of women’s unity, empowerment, and participation in social development.  The participants also presented dance, songs, and speeches, showcasing their talents and making the program lively and engaging.The program concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the participants, guests, and organisers for making the celebration successful.ConclusionThe International Women’s Day celebration was successfully conducted with enthusiastic participation from all the women present. Under the initiative of Shreekara World Foundation, a grand cultural programme was organised at 155 No. Cinnamara Primary School to commemorate 150 years of the historic national song 'Vande Mataram'.More than 400 students, teachers, weavers, volunteers and community members participated in this meaningful event organised with collective enthusiasm.PROJECT OBJECTIVEThe primary objective of this initiative was to commemorate 150 years of the national song “Vande Mataram” while fostering patriotism, cultural pride, national unity and moral values among students and the local community through collective participation. The event reflected Shreekara World Foundation’s commitment to inclusive education, cultural preservation and community engagement.PROJECT DESCRIPTIONMrs. Kavita Gogoi Borgohain from 155 No. Cinnamara Primary school warmly welcomed the officials of Shreekara World Foundation, volunteers, weavers, students, parents and audience. She briefly introduced the activities of Shreekara World Foundation. The Shreekara officials and the Headmaster of the school Mr. Pranjal Bora were felicitated by the teachers. The Headmaster of the school, Mr. Pranjal Bora, was also present in the function. 1. IntroductionChildren’s Day, celebrated on 14th November across India, marks the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the country’s first Prime Minister. He believed that children are the true wealth of a nation and that nurturing their growth, education, and happiness which is the foundation for building a progressive and compassionate society. Inspired by his ideals and vision for young minds, Shreekara World Foundation organized a special Children’s Day program at Dhekiajuli Sonari gaon MV School, Titabor.The event was designed not only to commemorate Nehru Ji’s deep affection for children but also to support the educational journey of students who lack access to essential learning materials. By distributing school kits and food items, the Foundation aimed to make the day meaningful, joyful, and memorable for all the children with the aim of supporting children’s education, encouraging creativity, and spreading joy. The program included distribution of educational materials and food items, ensuring a meaningful celebration for all students.2. Objectives of the Program· To bring joy to all children by organizing a meaningful celebration that resonates with the spirit of Nehru Ji’s vision.· To distribute school kits containing drawing copies and geometry boxes, encouraging students to participate actively in academic and creative learning.· To promote artistic expression, creative thinking, and hands-on learning among the children through drawing materials.· To add happiness to the celebration by distributing chocolates and food items.· To build stronger bonds with local schools, teachers, and communities by working closely with them during the program.3. Team Participation and CoordinationA total of 8 members from Shreekara World Foundation took part in the event including Zonal Manager and Shreekara’s volunteers. The team coordinated various aspects of the program, including material packaging, transportation, interaction with school authorities, distribution management etc. Their dedication ensured that every child received the kit in an organized and respectful manner.4.Activities ConductedAfter welcomed by the school principal, teachers, and students a brief introductory interaction was held to explain the purpose of the visit and the significance of Children’s Day.A few cultural activities such as group dance, group song were conducted to make the programme enjoyable. Apart from these speeches were given on Nehru ji on behalf of the students.After the programme we distributed school kits to the children. Each of the 225 children received a school kit containing:Drawing copiesGeometry boxChocolates (as food items)Distribution was carried out batch-wise to maintain discipline and ensure every child received the items properly. At the ending of the programme, the team had a short discussion with the teaching staff, who appreciated the organization’s initiatives. They encouraged more such educational support activities in the future.6. Impact and Outcomes of the ProgramEnhanced Learning Support:The school kits provided children with essential tools for academic activities, especially mathematics and art.Enhance participation:The school kits and food items provided to children makes them motivated for participation in academics and other school activities.Strengthened relationship between school and organization:The program fostered trust and collaboration between the organization and local educators.Encouragement for future Engagement:The school management welcomed more such initiatives focusing on education, health, and skill development.7. The opening ceremony was a momentous occasion, attended by distinguished guests including respected professors from CKB Commerce College and Jorhat Engineering College, whose presence added immense value and inspiration to the event. As part of the foundation’s ongoing commitment to empowering the next generation, scholarships were awarded to deserving children, recognizing and supporting their educational aspirations. It was a heartwarming moment that captured the true spirit of the foundation’s mission — nurturing dreams and creating opportunities for young minds.Adding to the significance of the day, a special exhibition was organized showcasing the Saksham Project, one of Shreekara World Foundation’s flagship initiatives aimed at promoting education, skill development, and community empowerment. The exhibition drew a lot of attention and appreciation from the guests and attendees, reflecting the impact of the foundation’s work on the ground.The entire event was meticulously organized in coordination with Director Hrishikesh Baruah, Zonal Officer Akashi Bhuyan, and Dr. Abhijit Bhuyan, whose combined efforts ensured the smooth execution and success of the ceremony. Their dedication and teamwork truly reflected the core values of the foundation.Director and Chairperson Papori Palkar and Sheetal Palkar, although unable to attend physically, joined the celebration virtually through Zoom.
