INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION
Introduction
International Women’s Day is observed globally on 8th March every year to recognise the achievements, strength, and contributions of women in society. As 8th March 2026 fell on a Sunday, the celebration was organised on 9th March 2026 at the office of Shreekara World Foundation, Jorhat. The program aimed to honour women and promote the importance and contribution of women in everyday life.
Participation
A total of 20 no of women were attended the program and actively took part in the celebration.
Special Felicitation
A special felicitation ceremony was organised to honour Ms. Bindaboti Boro Lahon, the Master Trainer of the SAMARTH Skill Development Training, in recognition of her dedication to trainee women in weaving skills. She was honoured with a traditional Assamese gamusa and a small gift as a token of appreciation.
Program Highlights
The program began with an introductory speech by Akashi Bhuyan, where she spoke about the importance of celebrating International Women’s Day and recognising the role of women in society. She also addressed the participants and shared their talents. A felicitation ceremony was organised for Ms. Bindaboti Boro Lahon, the Master Trainer of the SAMARTH Skill Development Training. A felicitation speech was delivered by Archita, appreciating the contribution and efforts of Bindaboti Boro Lahon in empowering women through skill development.
She also shared her experiences, motivating the women to learn skills and work towards self-reliance.
The Chairperson and Founder Director of Shreekara World Foundation, Ms. Papori Sheetal Palkar, joined the program digitally and observed the event. She delivered an inspiring speech encouraging women to become confident, skilled, and self-reliant and appreciated the initiative taken for celebrating the day.
A speech was also delivered by Debajani, highlighting the importance of women’s unity, empowerment, and participation in social development.
The participants also presented dance, songs, and speeches, showcasing their talents and making the program lively and engaging.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the participants, guests, and organisers for making the celebration successful.

The International Women’s Day celebration was successfully conducted with enthusiastic participation from all the women present. The program not only honoured the contributions of women but also encouraged them to continue learning, expressing their talents, and moving forward towards empowerment and self-development.
