Project Vastra Kala focuses on training women in the timeless and graceful arts of knitting, sewing, embroidery, and crochet.
Vastra Kala – Weaving Dignity Through Skill
Under the empowering umbrella of Project Saksham, Project Vastra Kala is a transformative initiative led by the dedicated and compassionate leadership of Akashi Bhuyan, Zonal Manager, Shreekara World Foundation, Jorhat, Assam. Akashi, who has been at the forefront of many Shreekara initiatives, brings deep commitment to uplifting women through sustainable skills.
Project Vastra Kala focuses on training women in the timeless and graceful arts of knitting, sewing, embroidery, and crochet. In structured batches of five, women undergo a three-month training program designed not only to impart skill but to nurture confidence, creativity, and self-reliance. This is not just a training program—it is a journey toward becoming ‘Swayamsiddha’—a woman who stands on her own, with dignity and pride.
The project is ongoing, continually welcoming women who wish to break free from dependency and embrace their potential. With each stitch and every thread, Project Vastra Kala is weaving a future where women hold the tools to their own transformation—one craft at a time.
