Shiksha – North East Chapter

Mobile Library in a Box

Assam, India (Nagaon and Guwahati) Chapter: North East India

Dates of Execution: 1st & 4th August, 2025
Volunteer / Project Coordinator: Riddhima Bora

As part of Shreekara World Foundation’s flagship education initiative Project Shiksha,a meaningful mobile library in a box program was held at Nagaon and Guwahati to address the lack of access to quality reading materials for children in under-resourced primary schools. The event was lovingly led by our dedicated team Riddhima Bora, Advay Bora, Parimita Bora, and Dwaipayan Bora.

The students and teachers were visibly touched by the gesture and expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support. Shreekara World Foundation is especially proud of our young volunteers, Riddhima and Advay, whose enthusiasm and compassion made a deep impression on everyone present. Their involvement is a shining example of youth leadership in community service.

The project’s aim was simple yet impactful – to provide portable, low-cost libraries to
schools without established library infrastructure, ensuring that students could access age-appropriate and inspiring books throughout the year.

With funding and logistical support from Shreekara World Foundation, mobile library boxes were curated and distributed within just six days. Each box was filled with a mix of Assamese and English books, including picture books, folktales, biographies, poetry, and beginner vocabulary tools. The selection featured works by renowned Assamese authors such as Lakhinath Bezbaruah, Abha Bora, and Dr. Dilip Kumar Kolita, as well as biographies of inspiring personalities like Sachin Tendulkar, Ratan Tata, Subhash Chandra Bose, Rabindranath Tagore, Kanaklata Barua, and Mamoni Raisom Goswami. To promote learning through play, each box also contained Ludo and Snakes & Ladders game sets.

The libraries will remain with the schools, ensuring continued benefit for future batches of students.

A big thank you to all volunteers for their selfless contributions and to the school for warmly welcoming us. Together, we continue to walk towards our mission of “Education for Every Soul.”
