Project Amrita
Project Amrita – Shreekara World Foundation
Project Amrita is an initiative by Shreekara World Foundation aimed at empowering underprivileged women by providing them with opportunities for sustainable livelihoods through medicinal plantation. The project focuses on uplifting women socially, economically, and health-wise by encouraging the cultivation of medicinal plants, especially Tulasi (Holy Basil), which is widely known for its therapeutic properties.
Many women from marginalized communities face financial hardship, limited access to education, and restricted opportunities for employment. Project Amrita addresses these challenges by training and supporting women in cultivating medicinal plants that not only offer health benefits but also generate income. By providing resources, knowledge, and guidance, the project helps women become self-reliant while contributing to the overall health and well-being of their families and communities.
Tulasi, the central plant of this initiative, is revered for its numerous medicinal benefits. It is rich in antimicrobial and antiviral properties that help in purifying the air and strengthening immunity. Its extracts are widely used in traditional medicine to alleviate stress, reduce fever, fight inflammation, and boost stamina. Through cultivating Tulasi, women gain both health benefits and financial opportunities, as the leaves, seeds, and oils can be processed into herbal remedies, teas, and wellness products.
Project Amrita is not just about planting herbs—it is about creating awareness, education, and a support system. The foundation organizes workshops and training sessions where women learn how to grow, harvest, and process medicinal plants. They are also educated on the health benefits of Tulasi and other plants, empowering them to become advocates for natural wellness in their communities.
By promoting self-employment, Project Amrita helps women improve their financial independence while also enhancing their confidence and leadership skills. Many women who participate in the project go on to form self-help groups, cooperatives, and small businesses, contributing to their family’s income and community development.
Furthermore, Project Amrita fosters environmental sustainability by encouraging the cultivation of plants that purify the air, support biodiversity, and promote eco-friendly practices. It aligns with broader efforts to enhance public health, reduce reliance on synthetic medicines, and create resilient communities.
Shreekara World Foundation envisions a future where empowered women lead the charge in promoting health, sustainability, and social development. Project Amrita is a step toward this vision—where knowledge, compassion, and action come together to create meaningful change.
The foundation invites partners, donors, and volunteers to join hands in expanding the reach of Project Amrita. Every contribution helps women transform their lives, their families, and their communities.
Together, let’s cultivate health, hope, and empowerment—one Tulasi plant at a time.
